The Problem
Children from low-income families arrive at school an average of 17 months behind their peers. This gap forms before the age of 5, and without targeted, early support, it rarely closes. The foundations of language, numeracy, and social confidence are laid in the earliest years of life. By the time a child starts school, the trajectory is already set.
